Illustration style development, art direction, and character art for global marketing campaign of Red Dead Redemption 2 (2018)
Building off of the work we did on the first Red Dead Redemption (2010), RDR2 evokes the classic spaghetti western films of the 1960’s and 70’s to communicate an at-times heartbreaking story of a gang of outlaws and the decline of the harsh American West. This graphic film poster look is achieved through combining analog ink drawings and digital painting techniques. The effect is gritty, raw, and bold.
RDR 2 was released in October of 2018 to critical acclaim and is the second highest grossing entertainment product launch in history, behind Rockstar’s own Grand Theft Auto V.
